Hello,
I need some guidance on the type of documentation needed for an upcoming trip from the USA to Russia via Turkey.
I am a dual citizen of USA and Mexico. I plan to travel from the USA to Turkey with my USA passport (because USA citizens enter with no visa). I will then use my Mexican passport to travel from Turkey to Russia, and use my Mexican passport again to go back from Russia to Turkey. I will then use my USA passport to come back to the USA from Turkey.
I am aware that I need a Russian visa to go from Turkey to Russia with my Mexican passport. But do I need a Turkish Visa to enter from Russia back to Turkey with my Mexican passport? If yes, what type of visa? It cannot be a transit visa because I will leave the transit area to collect my baggage in Istanbul.
If I show my Mexican passport at check-in at Istanbul, will I be hassled as to how I got into the country in the first place?
Some additional information, my flights are not all on a single airline ticket. I will need to collect my baggage at Istanbul airport and check-in once again to catch my connecting flights.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
