3 yr Visa for US citizen question

I already have a 3 yr Russian visa and have been to Russia once. To visit again during the valid 3 yr period, do I need another invitation letter from a Russian hotel for the period of my next visit to Russia? Probably not, as the invitation letter was to obtain the visa, correct? Any proof required for where you I be staying aside from hotel reservation for entry into Russia?

marcelapa10 If you have a 3 year multi-entry tourist visa, no, you do not need any additional invitation letters. I've never been asked about my plans on entry but I always have reservations and a simple plan to show them if they ever do ask. But even then, no one is going to hold you to any plan you have. Just make sure to be registered. That's all I do.

It depends. Did you set the invitation letter to match the visa time frame? If so you would be good to go. If you didn't, then I would get a new invitation letter.

For future reference : you don't need to put specific hotels that you are staying at / get an invitation letter only from the specific hotels.

You are correct. The invitation letter was to obtain the Visa. Your Visa is still valid, so you can stay anywhere, just be sure to get registered. You do not need another invitation. My routine is to make a hotel reservation and then I email the hotel with a copy of my Russian Visa and get some kind of a response. Ask them any question, about a room upgrade or what time breakfast is served. This is just something I do just so I have a record. I'm not saying everyone must do that.
