@Bill Did you have any trouble crossing border or something else? I am planning to do with my daughter, bus from Terespol to Brest, hope not too long.
In Russia the hotel asked the migration card? Did you get it at Belarus? I am quite worried because I will exit from Kazakistan, I won’t have any problem at that border, near Astrachan.

@Alfio
If you plan on going from Belarus into Russia, then be sure to tell the Belarus guards at Brest that you will need a Migration card for Russia (the little paper that slips into your passport).

Your trip will be doomed if you forget this.

Here is my after action report. Using a Rooskie visa to enter Belarus for 3 weeks. As an Amerikanski.

The land crossings at poland and lithuania are brutal. They will process about 1 bus an hour.

The bus from ride from warsaw to brest took 15 hours. And i cant return the same way. The bus ride from Minsk to Vilnius also took 15 hours.

If you enter Belarus first and plan on crossing into russia, BE SURE THEY ISSUE YOU A MIGRATION CARD. Or else you will be illegally entering Russia.

If you have a Migration card you should have no trouble flying from Minsk into Russia.

Due to the 3rd grade antics at the land borders, i would highly recommend entering Russia first and then taking a train into Belarus. I would suggest flying into St Peterburg and taking a train into Belarus.

All the main cities in Belarus are clean and reek of the old USSR. I visited Minsk, Brest, Grodno, Gomiel, Mogilev and Vitbsk.

Some credit cards and ATM cards work in Belarus. I had good luck using PreorBank ATMs. All buses take cash.

Can anybody here tell me if when crossing from Belarus to Russia or vice-versa you get a stamp on your passport? My issue is that I have dual citizenship: with one passport I can enter Belarus visa free, but not Russia. With the other I can enter Russia visa free, but not Belarus.
So I’m afraid a stamp of the first country I enter won’t be valid in the second, if I cross the border using a different passport…

Thanks in advance.

@donFlorero You would enter and exit Belarus on the passport that is visa free for it. Then when entering Russia you would enter on the passport that is visa free for that. The only thing now required for Russia for you is to prepare for entering Russia is to use the RU ID app in advance.

I crossed from Belarus to Russia a few weeks ago by train. All that happened was a guard went thru the train checking passports.

No stamps were given. I believe Russia will not allow anyone with a Ukraine passport to cross over from Belarus.

@NorseVictory That part is clear: entering each country with the corresponding passport. But as others have noted here, you get no stamp when you cross from Belarus to Russia or vice versa. So let’s say I enter Belarus first, and then cross to Russia. I would be using a passport in Russia with no entry stamp. Not sure if the stamp on the other passport is valid then…

@donFlorero
You would show the Russian officials the passport of the visa free - which would not have a stamp in it to begin with even if Belarus gave you a stamp.

All in all, stamps are going away with everything going digital.

@donFlorero
You will need to DEMAND a Russian migration card when you enter Belarus. You wont be able to rent any hotel rooms in Russia unless you get a Migration card when you first step foot in Belarus.
