Hi, my name is Yuko. Together with my husband and our two dogs, we are traveling from Belgium to Japan in our camper. We are currently in Croatia and wish to travel through Russia. While we are not fully prepared, we have plenty of time to manage everything, and we believe that for every problem, there is a solution.

We have read that we need a visa to enter Russia. Is there an easy way to obtain a visa without sending our passports to a visa center in Belgium? We have found little information available in Belgium, while there seems to be plenty of information in the Netherlands. That’s how I came across your very informative website!

First, do we need to obtain a visa before we submit our itinerary for our travels in Russia?

Thank you for your assistance, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Yuko

@yuko Hi Yuko,

Yes, Russian consulates usually require proof of residency to issue a visa, which can make applying outside your home country difficult. However, it’s worth trying at the Russian consulate in Croatia just in case they accept your application.

Best regards,
