Hi!
I came into Belarus through the land border with Lithuania. I wasn’t given any migration card on entry. I have a valid Russian visa on the passport. When I flew from Minsk to St. Petersburg, I did not have to go through immigration and again I didn’t receive a migration card. When I went through immigration in St. Petersburg, the officer only looked at my passport and visa and stamped me in and didn’t ask for the migration card. Now my hotel in St. Petersburg says that they can’t check me in as I’m illegal without the card. I spent the whole day going around trying to find out how to fix this and no one seems to know. I have 3 days on St. Petersburg and 3 days on Moscow. What problem will I face when I leave Moscow? How can I address this problem now? Thanks!

I went thru the same thing 2 weeks ago.

I just decided to self deport myself back to Belarus.

But you might try to visit an immigration consulate and explain them what happened and maybe they can issue you a migration card. They would be the same office you would need to visit if you lost your migration card.

You dont have that much days, just finish your trip like this or go back to Belarus. Anyway you will loose your time fixing it. You have 7 days to register anyway.

@soljack77 You couldn’t just go back to the airport and request to talk to a immigration officer?

Hello,
I have the same problem now, travelled from Dubai to Minsk, visa free and wasn’t given any migration card.
Then from Minsk to Saint Petersburg, at Minsk airport no passport control.
At Saint Petersburg airport, the officer stamped my passport with entry and didn’t give me any migration card.
At hotel check-in they asked about it.

Please advise me what did you do to solve the problem urgently, as I am now in the middle of it?

My plan is to stay in Saint Petersburg 4 nights then travel to Moscow and stay for 5 nights (everything already paid).

Please advise me what to do?

Thanks.

An update:

It is regulation that you don’t get a migration card if you travelled from Belarus to Russia.

So, at entry: quick entry without migration card.
At exit: quick exit without migration card.
No questions raised.

At hotel check-in in Moscow: juat told them that I am coming from Belarus and no issue at all.

Even in internal flight from St. Peteraburg to Moscow no issue at all.

The hotel in Saint Petersburg, just didn’t know that you dont get migration card if you are coming from Belarus, so they took me to ministery of interior office, and the government told them that I don’t need one, and I won’t face any issues with pssport control upon leaving the country (and they were 100% correct).

The only concern was for the hotel: how the hotel in st.petersburg would register me without migration card?

The hotel in Moscow didnt raise such concern which tells me that they have more experience than the one in Saint.

Long story short: you don’t need migration card travelling from Belarus to Russia.

The Hotel could get in big trouble for allowing you to stay without the proper paperwork. So you might have to sleep on a park bench.

I’ve noticed the big cities like Moscow and St Petersburg seem to get away with ignoring the rules. But if you travel to a another city be prepared to have a major problem staying in a hotel.

By the way, if you want a migration card, you have to ask for it!

Not a joke, you may ask for the migration card upon entering Belarus, and use the same paper for Russia. This is how it works!
Or, you may ask for it upon entering Russia as well.

Yes, you have to ask for it, it will not be given to you, as you don’t need it from Passport Control prespective.

If you plan to visit Belarus and Russia, ask and insist to Passport control to give you migration card at Belarus to avoid any issues with hotels in Russia.
