How to send money to Russia

Has anyone else had issues setting up an account with Koronapay? I attempted to verify my account, but I was rejected. When I contacted customer service they said they aren’t able to help me, but can’t say why. I’m a US passport holder and I’m wondering if they just don’t work with Americans?

@Cmartens2 Since Advcash is not working, another alternative is bestchange.

AdvCash told me that the agent that they used stopped transferring to Sber Bank. They didn’t know when they were going to be able to offer it again. I last used it on 7th March. Bestchange actually works quite well, the rates are pretty good using BTC. I’ve used two there but I’m not going to say which ones because elements of the West are very keen to shut them all down. And one of them seemed to be having some issues the 2nd time around as my previous log-in wasn’t working. Takes about an hour to get confirmations on the chain and for the agents to transfer to you.

Another way of doing it might be to set up a Crypto account (say ByBit) with localisation as Russia. You might then just be able to transfer RUB yourself without going through a 3rd party (you can send BTC from another wallet or exchange, say Binance or Kraken, which you can buy with another currency)

Hello,

I’ve used KoronaPay several times. No charge, but the rate is 5% less than the official one. Therefore, my last transfer didn’t work and I don’t know why.
I also noticed that there is a limit for KoronaPay, it’s 10000 euros (or dollars) per year. Do you know if there are also limits with the other ways that you mention?

Level 1 — Up to 1,000 euros within 3 months. No identity verification is required.
Level 2 — Up to 10,000 euros within 6 months. Identity verification is required, including uploading photos of your passport or ID card and a selfie.
Level 3 — Up to 15,000 euros within 6 months. Proof of residence is required.
Level 4 — More than 15,000 euros within 6 months. Proof of income is required.

@Irena irena, but still not from the US?

Hello Irina, just read your guide. I have a question about Advcash. Your screenshot only shows the withdraw to VISA/Mastercard which has pretty steep fees (2.5%). I see there’s another tab called ‘To bank’. Does this give another option to withdraw to a Russian bank account (say Sberbank) with lower fees? I’m also curious if there are any upper limits?

We’ve been using crypto (USDT >> RUB) so far which has worked fine, but would like to find a more “official” way for larger sums. We’ve been using bitpapa.com for the last few months (since Binance/Pexpay and OKX) closed down.

Has anyone successfully transferred money to a Mir Card from one of the exchanger of bestchange.com??
None of the ones I have tried manage to complete the transfer with the reason “the destination bank refuses the credit”. In my case the destination bank is ЧЕЛЯБИНВЕСТБАНК

@fcuccoli swapcoin.cc works !!

@fcuccoli Hello, What combination have you used to send money to Russia with Swapcoin?

I would like to know as well! I used SendNomad last year but it’s been blocked in the US now and I need to find a different method.

@Irena I successfully sent money to Sberbank MIR using the Volet (prev. Advcash) with Sberbank on the Swapcoin.cc

@izzat11 Thank you very much for telling your experience!

So I have a question.
So if I make volet account and another person from outside Russia makes a volet account he can transfer balance from his volet to mine then I can withdraw the money using my sberbabk mir card?
Cuz it’s painful to find a way to get money transferred from outside russia lol

@izzat11 can’t u withdraw it directly from volet to your sberbabk account?

Update about Korona (former KoronaPay), they stopped working for me since yesterday (09.04. everything worked fine, did a transfer to russian MIR card) - only card-to-cash is a valid option since yesterday. I even asked today Korona support about it and they confirmed:

Unfortunately, the ability to send card-to-card transfers to Russia is currently unavailable. No timeframe for restoration is indicated

Maybe note should be added to the guide that Korona only offers cash pickup anymore. Will try out profee and in worst case Volet/Advcash - don’t like them because of the fees and also need to ask friends for help for transfers. (I have MIR card’s but I’m still European)

For anyone travelling to Russia: It’s possible to get a Raiffeisen MIR and Tinkoff MIR card as a tourist in Russia. At least I did last year when I visited some very longterm friends.

@alimab93 If a Russian make a volet account maybe he can withdrawal money to his Russian card (same name of Volet account), but if you’re not Russian you can’t

@Zerix Thanks for the update

Hello Irena,
KoronaPay has suspended money card-to-card transferts from European cards to Russian even to non sanctioned banks.
Only cash withdrawals are possible. Tried yesterday and had to spend almost one hour at a local Forabank partner before all the paperwork was done and finally get the cash…
