Even though a ‘US citizen wanting to move to Russia’ tried to discourage me with his spamming and trolling, I’m still planning a trip to Russia under the SVV program and I’m looking for a travel companion.
Have you found any teaching jobs that pay anything near worth it in Moscow? Everything I saw was less than 180k rubles a month. Doesnt seem many good work opportuntities for foreigners in Russia ![]()
@Jerz I haven’t really looked in the Moscow region - not my cup of tea. Salaries are lower compared to the West. 180k is like around 2400 USD… a general practitioner [doctor] makes roughly 120 -200k rubles.
Private international schools would be the best option to consider for higher paying and better “benefits” such as possible housing allowance.
If one needs to work in Russia, then SVV needs to happen.
I’m not sure why this would be, unless you’re below A2 language level
The bureaucracy of work or student visas is surely hairy, but I doubt it’s impossible or they wouldn’t still offer them
Because its illegal to work on a tourist visa. If you do and get caught, deportation and very likely banned for a few years. No matter what your language level is.
In reality until youre approved for the TRP, you cant even hit the ground running for work on the 702 SVV visa.
Well it seems hardly worth it, these salaries are junk
business english seems bad as well per grok
Salaries for foreigners teaching Business English in Moscow typically range from about 80,000–150,000 RUB per month (~$1,100–$2,070 USD at current rates of ~72–73 RUB per USD) for standard roles, with potential for higher earnings through corporate training, private tutoring, or specialized positions.
It also takes less to have the same lifestyle than in the US.
What takes 12k in NYC is only 6k in Moscow for cost of living
yes but you probably wont even be making 3k let alone 2.5k teaching in moscow, Chinese on the other hand diff story
