Possible new flight path to Russia through Belarus

The USA is lifting sanctions on the airline “Belavia” and resuming air communication with Belarus, which had been closed since 2023 due to sanctions.

This was announced by the US President’s representative John Cole during a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko. Additionally, he stated that the US intends to reopen the American embassy in Minsk.

Also, Trump gave Lukashenko cufflinks featuring the White House — the Belarusian president said they are “very interesting.”

This easing of sanctions has nothing to do with opening new flight routes unfortunately, it just enables Belavia to purchase much needed Boeing and Airbus parts. Not rocket science to understand where those parts will end up!

@NorseVictory “The U.S. lifted sanctions on Belavia on September 11, 2025, after Belarus released 52 political prisoners. The airline can now access Western leases and US-origin parts, but EU sanctions remain in force, keeping European routes closed.”

I found a pretty good way in. I’m going to try it next time.
First, get to AMS
then
AMS > BEG > MOS

Air Serbia makes this possible.

@Cal Air Serbia from Belgrade into Russia has been my go to route several times. Good airline.
