It doesn’t mention anything about the fact that you need to have an account with the website. Foreign google accounts don’t work, and I can’t get my Yandex account to work. I’ve tried three different phone number for text verification and they don’t either.
I book on Sutochno or Flatport apartment using Payinrussia. Never had problems (I’m a foreigner living in Italy, and i just top up the Pir balance for this kind of payment)
For Sutochno you don’t have to create an account to book… you just have to put your phone number. For Flatport you just have to put your name, surname, phone and email.
No account needed.
Never heard about the necessity of accounts to book there, but if you still want to open an account, you can do it clicking in the top right corner on their site (login) then you register by your phone (you can also choose gmail)
What I did was select the accommodation first, and once you’re on the accommodation page, you enter your mobile number (from your own country) and you’ll receive a verification code. That’s it — from there, the system creates your account automatically, no separate registration needed.
The original poster says they tried three different phone numbers for verification and they did not work. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem now with various Russian sites.
I recently had the same problem with Ozon Travel, where I received none of the verification phone calls made to my UK phone number (it used to receive them a few months ago, but this stopped last month). I believe the problem is caused by Western telcos blocking automated calls and texts from Russia as assumed spam.
Hey OP here - I never got it to work. I tried everything from trying to select the property first, to setting up an account first, and whatever else. It just wasn’t having it! Just left Russia last night after 18 days - I booked all of my private flats with Ostrovok and everything worked out fine.
If anybody is from the UK here, I can say with that Santander and Monzo work with that site well (as it winds up being charged in BYN).
I’m in Belarus now - not a single one of my cards has worked in ATMs or Belarusian websites. Except for Monzo (and of course my Mir card).
