How can I book tickets online for various activities and places in russia as a tourist? Is there any single one stop place to get all the tickets pre-booked or can I just book it on the spot?
You have to open an account with Payinrussia, top up your balance with rubles and you can make every digital payment you need. Don’t need documents, just some details like email, telephone, name and surname.
For example, i use it for booking hotels and museum that requires rubles for payment, but when i am there i also use it in places like restaurants, pubs, stores and i pay via qr code (SBP system).
Never used cash since then!
@Tsar_Vlad Sounds wonderful. I saw your other posts and got a card with Payinrussia (600,000 Rubles).
- Do most places in Russia have QR code system for payment that I can scan and pay using PIR?
- Where do you book tickets for museums, activities, experiences and day tour packages (like getyourguide.com, klook.com, etc)? Do you have any one stop website link for Russia?
- Is it still possible for foreigners to get a physical SIM card at the airport? And do e-sims work or do they have 24 hour lock?
Sorry for so many questions! I thought of not spamming with multiple threads ![]()
@Tsar_Vlad doesn’t payinrussia have high fees to transfer money in?
@Tsar_Vlad You speak like Payinrussia is the only way. Very strange.
Another option is getting a prepaid debit card from T-Bank [easiest for foreign tourists.]
Depending on your entry point - some airports have a T-bank office within the airport. Its still easy to get a debit card. I would steer clear of opening a savings /interest allowing accounts.
@KO11 I can’t really comment on the other services because I’ve only used the one that works best for me. And if you think I’m being paid to promote it, you’re welcome to believe that, I honestly don’t care… in 2026 you are all free to take a look at their service on the website and choose to believe it or not…
I’m only sharing my experience because I remember how frustrating it was to find a solution that actually let me pay for pretty much everything. There are so many different platforms (a lot of stopped working), each with its own limitations, and it gets confusing fast… so for me, having everything in one app is simply more convenient. That’s it.
@NorseVictory Which airports have T-Bank offices? So hard to find this out there, only experienced people can comment lol
@nilanko I know St. Petersburg does. They were working on Moscow. Easiest thing to do is go on their website and chat with them and set up an appointment. They will come to you and get everything done. There’s no other physical offices otherwise.
@nilanko Hi Nilanko, sorry for the late reply… yes, most places in Russia accept Qr code its callde SBP payment system, you can take a look by your own for places that accept this kind of payments. For ticket museums i always book on the official museum website, same for guide and tour experience. While i cant really help you with the sim because i use my own when i arrive there.
For every other question, be free to ask!
@Tsar_Vlad Thank you so much for your response! I also wanted to understand how do we book tours in russia, for example, if I want a guided tour to VDNKH which includes pick up and drop from the hotel, how can I book one? Any such russia specific tour booking website?
@nilanko This is a great company based in StP but they have guides in Moscow. You can email them for a private guide day trip.
@KO11 Awesome, thanks a ton ![]()
I spent 4 weeks in russia paying cash for everything. It’s not a hugh handicap.
@Tsar_Vlad Hey, has PIR stopped working? I can’t reload it anymore. Only crypto and chinese payment methods remain ![]()
