Trans-Siberian Rail

Hello Irena,

I am really grateful for your blog and your pointers. I would like to do the Trans-Siberian rail route from Beijing to Moscow this summer and have barely been able to find any up-to-date information online as to how I would be able to do this. I know that official tourist tours have been stopped and I wanted to ask if it’s generally still possible to do the trans-siberian route by train? If yes, do you have tips or things that would be important to consider for planning such a long train trip? Also, would you say it’s safe for two female travellers given the current political climate? Thank you in advance.

Of course, it is possible to take the Trans-Siberian route. The route is safe but you must take into account the restrictions regarding flights, cards, payments, etc.
More information about restrictions: https://russiable.com/category/russia-travel-guide/health-safety-restrictions/

I am currently updating the Russia Guidebook with information on the Trans-Siberian route as well.

Thanks for your response. That’s great to know! I am aware of the other restrictions and will continue to do my research and plan the trio as best as I can. Thank you
